Lapanib 250 contains Lapatinib: what it is
Lapatinib is a targeted medicine for breast cancer that makes too much of a protein called HER2. It blocks signals inside cancer cells that help them grow and is used together with another cancer medicine. It is taken by mouth, and the doctor checks heart and liver function during treatment.
Targeted therapy (HER2/EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor)
What doctors prescribe it for
- HER2-positive advanced or metastatic breast cancer, together with capecitabine, after earlier treatment including an anthracycline, a taxane and trastuzumab
- HER2-positive, hormone-receptor positive metastatic breast cancer in women after menopause, together with letrozole or another aromatase inhibitor
